Excellent capture of a tough subject. I've tried this once before and I'm keen to do it again. Looks like you had good light, so you were able to attain a deep DOF which is useful when you don't know where they'll jump. Would have been nice to see the eyes though.

Makapu'u Lighthouse

This lacks a key, meaningful focal point and the 50:50 split of composition doesn't help anyway. If this indeed an ancient ruin of a lighthouse then it's important to see some of its manufacture technique and textures, etc. SOme of that sunset glow could have been used to good effect and show us more of it, simply by moving around the subject.
