Helianthus,by jonpinkComment: :: Hello from the Critique Club ::
............................................................
Aha! Mr Pink! This is rubbish - good day to you.
Nah - seriously it's got its just position and those comments below are spot-on, but to reiterate:
> Colour and composition are excellent
> Dangling leaf is quite distracting, although it's also quite a charming imperfection which shows that the flower'e energy has gone into where its needed - ie, looking pretty to bees, etc.
> Detail is very clear
> Centre of flower is a touch grey from midtone dodging
> Surrounding sky area of flower is also a bit too haloed for my taste.
Overall - it's a proficient image which looks very strong on the front page.

Fields of gold by marboComment: Marvellous observation and a very satisfying view of a normally ordinary scene. Sunlight is superb, pciking up the forms nicely - even in the distance. |

M 4by ImagineerComment: Naz - thanks for the opinion. Whether it's 'good' or not is obviously subjective and I respect your view.
Perhaps you missed the point here though, as it's not intended to be a flat transferral of reality but an attempt to bring out some key attributes of the model. But then I'm sure you knew that anyway! ; ) |

Where the Land Meets the Seaby ElemmennopeComment: I really like these natural mini-dunes and I've never managed to get a good shot of them yet. This is very well composed with plenty of interest.
It may be good to try 'pushing it' using levels and channel mixer to increase the intensity of the forms. Try doing something dramatic then fading the opacity with the 'overlay' blend mode - it good look even better. |

Airborne Flyby BunglerComment: Very nice capture. A tiny amount longer DOF and this would be perfect, but it's lovely as it is anyway. |

Said The Spider To The Flyby BunglerComment: Quite a rare capture - normally never the twain shall meet unless in courtship. Did they both fight for this with adjacent webs or was it set up? |

Fire on Iceby MaverickComment: Excellent shot - nice dynamics. One of my favourite games too. I love the clarity you've achieved from that translucent puck, which is very well captured in motion and freeze. |

Evening meditation!by NazgulComment: That's not bird droppings on the rock - it's Nazgul poo!
Very nice shot, if a little too centred for my taste! ; )
How long did you have to sit there before the ripples dispersed? |

Fly by Nightby phoensoulComment: D'you know - I was going to shoot a plane at night myself someday soon, then I saw this! Excellent stuff. I love the pulses of landing lights punctuating its tracks. Very clear and well exposed.
I think the only improvement would be to either have shot it dead centre of the frame or more offset so that the streaks were more dynamically arranged. |
