The Beaconby alanfreedComment: For me this scene is just not captivating enough. While your scene is OK, it seems that you have brought nothing fresh to way in which it is shot. This is exactly how I imagine most snapshots would frame the subject: eye-level, fairly central, etc.
The element of creativity is missing here which is what I'm rating highly in this challenge rather than those who are blessed with simply attractive scenery or subjects to 'make' the shot. |

Graceful Departureby connieComment: Lovely striations and a good scene. I do love sunsets but I just wish there was an extra feature of interest here somewhere. A bit cliche perhaps, but a boat, bird, planet, tree - anything to give more scale and context. That said, I do like the subtle wave and the gorgeous hues off the water.

The Splash of a Kiwiby terjeComment: Great focus and lovely detail. The only things I'm not keen on are the glow round the fruit and the slightly busy background. Very nice stock shot though and, with work, could make it into a professional ad or poster. |

Fallby ursulaComment: The light here is wonderful. You've done what is very difficult and produced an ordinary scene in a very special way. I love it. I'm also a fan of silver birches. Hope you do well. [9] |

A Study in Colorby HRoxasComment: Lush and tasty, which is a good thing to sense from a photo of food! Great choice of colour and lovely focus. |

In Mid-Airby ellamayComment: Hi from the Critique Club
...............................................
This is clearly a superb photo. The key to its success in my view is that you got close to the action so that the viewer feels involved. You have captured brilliantly lots of detail and were round far enough to get the face in view.
The composition is strong too. If there is any fault then it may be that the background does not hold much interest. Perhaps if the bird had a target in view or if the scenery was particularly beautiful it would have helped.
The bird's stance is particularly interesting though, showing a nice fan of feathers and nice feet!
All the best

Sunset at Castle Hill by BobsterLobsterComment: Hmmmm.... I wonder whose this is! Classic shot - very nicely processed. For me it's just that bit OTT with the treatment, as the blue sky and horizon areas don't sit very comfortably in the colour range.
You have a lovely subject though and of course it's well composed, etc.
Cheers

First Lightby autoolComment: A glacially still water may or may not have improved this - I don't know. It's a lovely time of day but it's a shame that much of the beach is in shade, so I ccan't help thinking that an evening shot may have been more effective. I'd also have removed the boundary markers too.
Competent composition, but not a great deal to latch onto beyond the pretty scene. |
