Image critique: I absolutely want this to win. I envisage it on a large format calendar looking splendourous with so much space and serenity. It's brilliantly simple.

I hate to spoil the party here (which I probably won't), but I think you're mighty lucky that this is no. 2 or even in the top 20! While a nice scene this is transparently over processed to the point of confusion. There really is a massive imbalance in the sky related to the ground so that they look divorced from each other.

Seems to me that this kind of editing is in vogue here now but it's not the photo that's winning for you here but Photoshop edits that appeal to gimmick fans (despite starting out with a healthy shot). I like your other work but this is a step in the wrong direction despite the result.

No offence intended, just a [strong] opinion on this kind of stuff.

I don't if I'll be the first to say this but... I'd prefer the whole, unsliced picture here. The scene looks simply stunning and the framing simply gets in the way. Beautiful.
