Lovely detail, light and texture. Sharpening has left clear pixel blocks in some areas and background is maybe a bit too much of a 50/50 split with the feeling that something should be happening there.

Challenge link: medium/strong. Theme is bit to like The Past here for me, rather than the sensation of time passing by.

Image critique: a strong composition and impressive subject. However, the editing is a bit transparent here which distracts me from the photo. Highlights are quite blown (sky is overpowering) and some midtone dodging has left some faded areas at the centre. I know this place I think (Castle Rising?) but I can't be sure.

Out-of-challenge appeal: not much due to editing anomalies.

Image critique: unusual image - I can't recall having seen a whirlpool like this, so a great use of the slow shutter/ND. Composition is a bit busy, but difficult to avoid, although crouching down a bit may have got more falls and fewer twigs.

Out-of-challenge appeal: I really love the feel of this.

Image critique: subjects are very appropriate to the challenge but you are a victim here of poor, flat light (but if, like me you've had bland or poor weather then I understand!). Strong composition lifts this out of the ordinary with great DOF.

Out-of-challenge appeal: a bit bland overall (just the damn light really!) to hold me for long.
