Pride of London by ImagineerComment: I have become extremely moist viewing these comments. I do thank each and every one of you who has spent the time to do so.
: )
Thanks especially to those who made me laugh aloud: Bod, Gordon ("geewhy"), Manic.
And samtrundle - you forsaw the future!
Edit: forgot to mention how chuffed I was too, considering the quality of the rest of the field.Message edited by author 2004-12-13 08:19:01. |

Life on the Negril Riverby TuckersmomComment: Challenge link: no clear landmark as the main feature here so not very strong on theme,
Image critique: it's a busy shot with no real focal point. This is more like a holiday snapshot than a deliberate attempt to win a challenge. Some peripheral detail interferes so i'd have cropped itjust right of the red boat and just below the the start of the opposite bank of the river. Colour is good and image is clean.
Out-of-challenge appeal: it's a nice snapshot of life here, but not much to bring me back for repeat viewings. |

londoneye1.jpgby PeterCComment: Happy Christmas!
Lovely exposure - it sure looks inviting. A little more clearance top & bottom would be great. |

Storm on the horizon (Small).jpgby RayEthierComment: Very atmospheric scene - a worthy capture too. Horizon is distractingly tilted and levels are pushed a little bit too far perhaps, but this is really nice. |

A Manhattan Nightby graphicfunkComment: Great exposure and a detailed, featured skyline - even with the high contrast subject (just love that architectural masterpiece, Chrysler building).
More Hudson and less sky would have guilded the lily nicely. : ) Message edited by author 2004-12-11 18:04:13. |

Moonrise Over Stonehenge by EddyGComment: Challenge link: strong - you deserve much credit for the capture alone.
Image critique: a powerful image and a dramatic subject. I think the processing has been pushed too far, rendering Stonehenge a bit too indistinct. Moon looks good - perhaps a little too central - but its's large and eerie.
Out-of-challenge appeal: I've reviewed this and I like it more each time, although the quite harsh processing is my only niggle. |

Chicago's Newest Landmark, "The Bean".by TommyMoe21Comment: Challenge link: very strong.
Image critique: powerful subject, great weather, crisp, good POV (you cast a good shadow!) and the reflected city is wonderful. The quality of the shot is lovely and the sculpture reminds me of the film 'Flight of the Navigator' with the chromium space craft.
Out-of-challenge appeal: yup - very satisfying. |

White Horseby e301Comment: Challenge link: very strong - nice take on the brief.
Image critique: strong comp and a great landmark. I'm not sure where this one his (Yorkshire?) - and I may have walked around this. The image is good but I get the feeling taht it might be an OK shot with some salvage through some editing, mainly due to some subdued contrast towards the back of the hill.
Out-of-challenge appeal: lovely scene. Reminds me of Yorkshire so I'd revisit. |
