Well, I looked at this and immediately had a flashback to an another era - like a surrealist from the 40s, perhaps even, dare I say, a Bill Brandt. For all the obvious (and deliberate) flaws and bucked conventions, this shot proves to be very memorable.

The pose for me shows a side of you that is slightly anarchic and resistant to the regular - which would not haved worked if the subject were to conform to the usual rules of cropping and composition. As such it has an indefinable X-factor which stands it apart from the crowd.

And more importantly, I like it!

You did OK for your first challenge. Good composition and angle. The blow-out's a bit too harsh for me but you're on the right track for that fashion-mag vibe.

I too loved this - I voted it an 8. It's got an ethereal vibe that, as Bod says, is quite difficult to define. Keep it up - buck the trends!

I hate to be one of many here - but why didn't you straighten this??! It'll really lose you points unfortunately, because this is a good photo otherwise. Nice colour and a good time of day - sky is pretty too.

Lovely still scene. Your exposure should have metered on the brightest parts though as you have quite distracting hotspots. Well composed and the feature of raised bridge helps a lot.
