'Heaven'by FyzarlComment: Definitely a more unusual approach. I like it, although the tones for me are a little too narrow in range with some hot spots in the whites. |

Yes He Took Portraits Alsoby Travis99Comment: While I know he took portraits, this strikes as too flippant in its execution to echo the great man's technique and choice of subject. OUtside of the challenge it's a good portrait, but for me, since the focus is Ansel Adams, it's a bit weak. The tones are very harsh too (narrow range) leaving the blacks too black and the whites too bright. Your editing is a little conspicuous on the hair also. Good, offset composition. |

Oak Tree in Snowby visaksenComment: Love the tree and the scene. Shot is very over-sharpened though. Tones are quite rich but a little too harsh for true AA. The sharpening coupled with the many branches visible makes this very busy to look at. OK composition but the tree cropped at the top is a shame and eye-level POV is quite bland.
To improve this I would have got closer and looked upwards from a low vantage point. This would show more detail, add some drama and, if you were to expose right, get a long DOF which is very typical of AA. |

Chapel in the snowby RUEDISCHMUTZComment: Lovely scene while not being typical AA material. Well composed and the subtle desat brings your own character to the shot. Tonal range is good, as is the exposure, but it's probably not stereotypical enough to score highly in this challenge (neither is mine!). |

Weathered Eleganceby K-RobComment: My kind of subject, but I do feel that an deep DOF was essential here. Longer shutter and stopping down, while focusing on the furthest element, would have resolved this and given a real AA feel tot he composition - which is good but frustrating due to the focus. |

Homage to Anselby Bran-O-RamaComment: Great subject, but I feel you could have got more out of it. Getting really low, stopping down and using a slow shutter speed (with an ND filter even), you could have achieved a very deep DOF and captured some close up texture/reflections in those wonderful rocks. As it stands this is anaesthetised by the eye-level POV and the somewhat heavy-handed editing (sky & horizon particularly), while the finer points of the subject are lost in the busy scene and lack of focal point.
Cheers

Sonoran Spring by ArtifactsComment: Good sky, if a touch over dramtised for my taste. It is however quite 'AA' so it will do well. Composition is sound. Steve? |

Rancocas Tree Studyby edc1Comment: Nice subject. Tones are a little harsh perhaps and lighting would be more effective if was more directional instead of quite flat. |
