Hi from the CC Club,

Well, technically, the horses above the colt are above him and you are above him. I'm afraid not far enough above him. It is important to read the challenge descriptions and there are always threads about the current challenge going on. These you may find helpful for ideas and more indepth discoussions about the description of the challenge. Try isolating the colt the next time.

The colt is in sharp focus, just has a rump in the way of his rump, play around with positioning and you will be surprised at what you may find. You have good clear clarity going on throughout the photo, you AP was perfect, ISO and Shutter spot on.

Post Processing, don't be afraid to play with selective colours and the black and white. The shadow highlights will give more contrast as well.

PM me if you have any questions

Hi from the CC club,

A good idea for this challenge!

1st Impressions, the lighting is very strong in this and has blown out several areas in the shoes, a less bright light or hanging something over the light would have diffused the light enough to give it a smoother glow versus a full blown spotlight. The heel on the mans shoes is almost green from the light adn there are various blown out areas on the womans shoe. In post processing for the problem lighting, you could have gone with a touch of the exposure and contrast, brightness, and or shadow highlight.

The table seems tilted which you could straighten out. The edge of the table and your background is very prominent which in affect cuts your shot into two halves, having the backdrop on the table would have eliminated this problem. Then of course your back drop is a little wrinkled, which again is a slight problem.

One tip for your backdrop, is some large stones laid at teh bottom of your sheet, this will pull it taut so it is less wrinkled. Helpers are always good if you can get them to sit still long enough, they can sit on the back drop pulling it taut. Candy always works well as bribes!

A closer crop could have helped here too, I usually make a tube out of my hand and look through it just to see if it makes a difference being cropped.

Pm if you have any questions

Hi from teh CC CLub,

Nice shot here, you do have a slight glare which could be avoided by a little diffusion, or less direct light. The focus is a little off in this shot, but the colours are brilliant and playful . you pov is good and you have some brilliant leading lines,

keep on shooting

HI from the CC CLub,

Well, it has been said gorgeous shot, the leading lines are stunning and lead to you to the coupe de grace at the end. I can see the horizon though and it is tilted, but it is so barely there it is not even thought of.

Title is a little long, but with a shot like that who cares!!

well done, a very nice job

Hello from the CC Club,

How funny, I did the same exact shot!!!

the over all impression i am getting from this, is the placement could have been different. Play around with your props you will be surprised at what comes about. Having the dead sunflower lower would have seperated the two. DPC expects photos to be tack sharp, so in post processing try to sharpen a little at a time until you get the desired affect.

There are no details in the petals which probably hurt your score a little and it seems over saturated.

When you are working with a desk lamp, try different angles, don't be afraid to have it over the top, laying on its side, hanging off your shoulder etc. I think some of the problem may have been that you had your exposure at 2 seconds, this will let in a lot of light and it shows on your petals.

Feel free to pm me if you have any questions

CC Club here,

OKay I am going to go out on a limb here and guess what you where thinking when you took this shot.

IT was once alive, vibrant and full of life, then it died, but now it can make life again with the seeds from the flower heads. So in fact you have really gone for life, death and life again. Nice job!

You are tack sharp on the orange flower and its leaf, which drifts off into a smooth blur. I think the green background is not working in this shot as it is very vibrant, maybe toning it down a little?

The composition is tilted, which I actually like, I like that it inst straight on, that would make for a boring shot.

I think and believe, this is exactly what you wanted to shoot and processed.

Hello from the Critique Club,

I think that reading the description of the challenge would have helped you out here somewhat. IF you had titled it, Empty home, most people would have got that the snail was dead.

Sharpeness is an issue with this shot, also the foreground. I actually like snail shells and think that this easily could have been a better shot for you.

It is a good position of the snail in this shot

Keep shooting snails, I want to see some more!

Nice shot. A little busy though, play around with your items when you have them on the table. The dead rose could have just had one or two of the live roses with it. At the moment it is being swamped by the others. The two blurred in the background are just out of alignment with the rest of the photograph.

Different heights of the flowers would have made this a more interesting shot, instead of them all being on the same eye level. More emphasis on the dead flower would be a good idea.

Your ISO is fairly high for having a light working too, this could account for some of the grain I am seeing.

You placed well with this shot

Hi from the CC Club.

A powerful image you have going on here, the black and white is very good. Nicely sharpened, good clean lines. It does need straightening out though.

I read on the comments where it said 'only death is represented here, but he did rise up, so death adn life is represented.

Nice choice in black and white. If before you go into black and white, twiddle with some of the contrasts adn selective colours, then turn into black and white, this will give you some amazing contrasts to your shot. YOu have a natural darkness from the clouds in the bottom of your pic, these could be brought out a little to make teh white in the top very dramatic.
