3 Inches of Bloodby adamslightComment: C Club here,
Not a lot I can say really about this photograph. It is in focus, dof is good, saturation is good, lighting is good. You got what you wanted with this shot by shocking people.

The Photographer's Eye by Michael Freemanby bspurgeonComment: Hi from the C Club,
I gave this a 9 when i voted. I though it was a brilliant photograph.
I love the fact that you haven't got some bikini clad model doing this, this is what makes this shot so special.
The only thing that I can see is the banding in the sky which is easily remedied in Advance.
I wish I could make this a longer critique, but what can I say when faced with this shot. Stunning!

Phishby davidwComment: Hi from the C Club,
I like your abstract, mainly because I can still tell what it is. Excellent work.
There is nothing that I can think of that you can do with the shot technically wise, but in post processing maybe playing with the selective colours could have made this a little more vibrant. It may have helped with the blown out highlights you have on the bottom left. I am not a huge fan of borders, but I think this one could take it.
Nice job!

Crown of Aloes by Norah Loftsby tinkie2010Comment: Hi from the C Club,
At first glance I thought this was a Red Hot Poker Plant, I even looked it up, they are so similar it is uncanny!
I think if you are going to go dead center with a subject, then the whole thing needs to be tack sharp. The background is smooth with pleasing colours to compliment the flower head. I can even spot a piece of a cobweb on the in focus head.
In post processing there is nothing I can think that you can change you are tack sharp on most of the flower, colours are nicely saturated |

Nickelbackby Alex_EuropaComment: hi from teh shot club
I am really surprised that this finished so low. I liked this very much.
Artistically, it is very clever. Technically there are a couple of things that are wrong. I think for this challenge having the face of the coin showing up a little more would have helped. There is a lot of grain and some sensor dust going on.
One tip for the blac and white is to saturate or use selective colours and play around with those before you change it to black and white, you will be surprised at what details come out this way. Unsharp mask would have also helped to bring out some details.
the shallow DOF is a great choice for this.
Yo-Spiff gave you an excellent comment below.
I would love to see you redo this shot. |

Eagle Brandby PloucComment: Hi from the C Club
Excellent shot, sharp clean details, very nicely sharpened.
I think the only thing that is hurting this photo is the size. Remember that you can go up to 640 on one side and the lower the resolution is the bigger your picture will be, so instead of 300, try 150 or even 100/ If you feel that you are losing details then go up. |

Blondieby LadyKComment: Hi from the C Club
Good name shot , well done
The colours are over saturated making her tights a shocking pink which look almost luminous, the skin tones are fairly yellow/orangy. The boots are to die for though!!
you have an interesting background that really brings out your subject, a tighter crop would have helped with this shot, especially on the right hand side all the way to the window.
Your details are good on teh wood, very nicely done |
