Late Night Bassby AlanBesComment: Well, it's an interesting studio shot but not much about it communicates 'live music' to me. |

eRikby carodaniComment: Chopped off hands at the edges of photos almost never result in an effective composition. Either go in closer so we don't see his bass, or show him in context with his instrument. Good expression. |

Jessica Andrewsby JimQComment: So difficult to get good gig photos when the sun is casting a shadow with a baseball cap. It's rarely effective to include half a hand at the edge of a shot. I'd have changed my position and tried to get more of her eyes. Ideally I'd have waited for her to look in a different direction, maybe inbetween songs so the sun didn't cast a shadow in her eyes. |

Ms. Vocalist of Animal Alpha Bandby terjeComment: Wonderful expression on her face. The photo has a strange quality though, like NeatImage has unsucessfully tried to remove lots of noise and left lots of artifacting. I like the composition, but I wish there was a little more of her foot and legs. |

"Blow Man Blow"by phylsy7Comment: Kids dancing to music can make for great photos, the composition lets this down though. The trumpeter is too near the top edge of the frame and everything feels unbalanced. I do think this could have benefited from observing rule of thirds. Stepping back and placing the trumpeter and kid on thirds junctions would have made it much stronger. Not fond of the sepia effect. Nothing is in focus enough. Why the square crop? It hasn't helped you here, and you'd do better to get the right composition straight out of the camera. |

Drums Along The Riverby pablo1029Comment: Wonderful shot with superb composition, but there's a very strange filtered effect I don't like at all. Shame, as otherwise it's one of the better drummer photos I've come across. |

Music Practiceby darkornithopterComment: Doesn't really say live music to me. The books are much too distracting a background. Onboard flash which is the work of the devil has given bad shadows and given a snapshot look. Slightly overexposed. I like the tilted composition. Seeing as you used flash, you could have closed the aperture a little and given yourself more dof (as long as you had a simple background). |

Army of Freshmenby EvanHComment: Oh yes, I like this. Great composition, but I'd have pointed the camera so his head observed rule of thirds. Here, there's just too much negative space at the top, but being near the bass body has given the shot much dynamism. White balance seems a little off, in PS I'd have adjusted the colour balance to give less orange/yellow. Love the lights in the background. I like the motion blur, but nothing is sharp enough. A little flash could really have helped to freeze the action here, as long as enough ambient light still made it. |

Musikfest '05by moosetraxComment: Background is too distracting, especially the people in the window. If you're going to include most of the pan pipes, include the whole lot! Shame about the watch. Nothing seems particularly sharp. |

Playing in the Parkby slightlyconfusedComment: The look on the guitarist's face suggests that he has been asked to pose, and is not in full flow of a song. He's just too self-conscious. Background hasn't really been thought through enough, it's too distracting and the burnt out sky spoils it. The leaves growing out of his head are also a no-no. |
