Tectonics: Mountains & Wavesby tSkyeComment: Yup, I knew someone would use this challenge for a landscape! Gorgeous scene, and I suppose it does fit. Watch your JPEG compression levels. I see some compression artifacts in the sky near the edges of the mountains, and a 70k file size says you had plenty of overhead to avoid it, |

The East Faceby Marc923Comment: Nice strong b/w. I'd like to know how you did the adjustments to get this look. |

Geology Rocks !by RasaiComment: Not sure what the point of the coin and jewelery on the rock is. The connection is not even rustling my hair as it goes over my head. The pic is nice and sharp, with a good DOF to separate it from the background. |

Millions of yearsby fridjoComment: My own effort with a similar rock face in another challenge showed me how hard it is to photograph something like this. It's hard to get the same visual impact as it has when you are in front of it. Not sure what the trick is on these. |

Puppy's First Shoeby Lgraber6109Comment: I think it's awfully cute, and I gave this a 6. The lighting is good. Except for a touch of some wrinkle in the upper left corner, you got a nice clear white background. The focus on the puppy is dead sharp on the eyes & nose. Minor nitpicks may be cropped a little too close for my own preference, and the DOF seems a little shallow for the shot, putting the flip-flop slightly out of focus. I think that focus on the puppy instead of the shoe could be shifting the subject away from what it should be for this challenge. Of course, I don't know what aperture you were shooting at, but another stop or two narrower would have likely helped. |
