I'm trying to decide if this really fits the challenge, or if you just shoehorned in a landscape shot you liked. Although this field may or may not be on an ancient lake bed, it really does not scream geology to me. I do like it, however.

Awesome scene, but it struck me as a little soft, so I looked at the file size. Only 80k when you could have used up to 150k. I think the softness I perceive is due to excessive JPEG compression taking away some detail. Always use the least amount of compression you can but still squeeze in under the challenge limit. I expect this will do fairly well in the challenge in spite of the compression. In fact, I will probably be the only one to notice and comment on it.

DOF seems a touch shallow for the subject, and the shot overall seems a bit dark to me. Interesting subject and good colors and detail on it.
