Inexact Scienceby jfritz27Comment: The missed focus seems artificially induced here. Objects both nearer and further away are more in focus than the unlit item. (Whatever the heck these are...) I like it, but the out of focus aspect comes across as unnatural. |

Lorikeetby ahjennyComment: I see motion blur on the parakeet, but the focus on him is nice and sharp. I can't see any way that the OOF background is intended as the subject. |

Praying on Spearmintby bspurgeonComment: Can I nitpick? The spelling of this meaning of the word is "preying". The praying mantis is preying on the spearmint. Sorry, I can get a little anal about these things. I hait it wen I mispel sumthing.
Oh, and a sevvun for this piktur. |

bird, there is no instance of your flightby posthumousComment: Some heavy purple fringing makes this appear unnatural. Also, for an OOF subject, the edge of the bird against the sky is a fairly hard edge. It does not come off to me very well, I'm afraid.
Edited for phat phingers. I hate when I misspell things. Message edited by author 2009-09-28 00:22:58. |

A view from the Pierby negativeComment: Nice b/w tones, but there is a visible tilt that is made evident by the straight lines of the subject. |

Oneonta Gorgeby ASTONishingComment: Is this the Oneonta in upstate New York? My parents have a place up there. Slightly blown out highlights and purple fringing beyond the gorge, but that is really beyond control under basic editing rules. |

Tall building makes smallish pyramidby ineedauniquenameComment: Responding to your "how do I improve?" post in the forums. I looked through your entries and found one that I thought had more potential, but as it is would have probably gotten a 4, or at best a 5 from me. Did my own edit on it. My major problem with it was I didn't care for the dim appearance and strong yellow cast to it. That may have been a creative choice on your part, but anyway, if it helps, the editing steps are in the notes.

The Cyclistby VitaminBComment: I really like this shot, but it appears to be only motion blur. A quick looks shows me sharp detail on the cyclists arm and the brake lever. This is in focus. I hate to have to give this one a low vote, but I cannot in good faith give it the high vote that I would if the topic included motion blur. A rare combination of a low vote and a fave. |
