Sprinklerby dianapf1Comment: I gave this a 6 on the first pass, and to be honest, I was three second voting. I think I gave it that because it is technically competent, and I tend to vote on the generous side most of the time. To try and give more specific feedback, I think the issue with this entry is that there is nothing of interest to this image. It's just a sprinkler head that we have all seen before, and photographed with some fairly plain lighting from a straight-on side view. There isn't anything compelling to grab the viewers attention, so they hit the 4 or 5 key and press onward. It does fit the challenge in a way, though if I were adding keywords to this image, "industrial" is not one I would think to use. I do think the subject has potential, however. Some stronger side lighting would help to bring out the beauty of the metal parts, and a macro of some of the mechanical bits might suggest the challenge topic more strongly. Hope this helped. |

Bathing Browniesby CoryComment: I did get the bit about brownies being invisible, and it's a great landscape, but I was divided between rewarding a very creative shoehorn and the fact that is was, well, an obvious shoehorn. I gave it a politically neutral 5. |

The Wichita Linemanby posthumousComment: I don't quite get the reference to a Glen Campell song, nor do I know what kind of creature this is supposed to be, but I do really like this chaotic semi-abstract imagery.
Added: Backing up a bit and looking at this in thumbnail form, I am more easily recognizing the image formed by the elements of this scene. It looks like a bird headed man. I can see the shape of a bird head and a transformer. Horus, perhaps? The title is starting to make more sense. I'm
bumping up my vote on this, but since I gave it an 8 on the first pass, there's not much of the scale remaining. |
