The hardness of her life is obvious, but she looks pleased by the attention and perhaps the rare day of work. This photo is a good counterpart to the man on the bench and shows the flip side of that same coin. I see hope in her eyes.

Is this a recent shot? It would do well for the sadness challenge. Conveys a sense of resignation, that he's given up. I hope that's not really the case, but his body language says that to me.

Wonderful old barn in a great location. If this is close to you, I can see it as a great place to revisit occasionally. If you are open to a minor critique, I think the composition is a bit on the centered side, with the horizon smack in the middle of the frame. The composition might benefit a little from cropping about 15% off the bottom of the image, where that extra grass isn't adding anything to the scene.
