When relaxing involved tea, a pipe, and a good book to read.by classycamComment: There is a lack of clarity here and I think I know at least part of what is causing it. Your file size is only 26k when you could have used up to 150k. This indicates a lot of JPEG compression, which is surely taking a lot of detail out of your photo. Check the JPEG compression settings in your image editor and always try to save as close to the limit for a challenge as you can get it without going over.
Aside from that, this is a pretty decent still life. Composition may be a little too even, but that's very subjective. |

Fear of Futureby e301Comment: I like the textures, but I'm really not sure about the shot as a whole. I don't love it but I don't dislike it either. Wish I didn't have to be so wishy washy like that. |

Gramaphone nostalgiaby trevellieComment: Nice. Like the lighting and colors here. Depth of field does not go all the way front to rear, but I've battled that issue myself. (Darned laws of physics, interfering with a good shot!) |

Write to herby meneleComment: Oh, I get it! It's kind of like an old fashioned form of text messaging! Way retro cool!
(Just kidding, I'm over 40) |

Ancient Hawaiiby ctComment: Cool looking statue with great detail. Seems to be too evenly balanced with the tree as the subject of this photo, however. |

From The Light Of A Window by dfstevensonComment: I see some potential in this shot. The scene itself is a good one, however, the contrast is dull and there are some purple streaks going through it. Not sure what caused it. Perhaps it may be from adjustments needed to bring out the details from the dark areas? |

Time Never Agesby maranelloboy05Comment: I have not worn a watch in at least 10 years. The Air Force trained me to always remove watches, rings and jewelery when working on electrical equipment, so it's just something else in my pocket all day. Besides, I always have something else with the time on it. I'm sure I am not the only one that has stopped wearing a watch, and that's why I find your entry quite appropriate for this challenge.
The composition here tries to lead the eye, except for the brightness over on the right being a distraction. There's not a lot of wow to it, I'm afraid, and the image needs some skew correction.
Getting closer to the watch and showing some of it's detail may have helped. |

The ways they used to make radiosby croftjComment: Resistance is futile! Sorry, really bad electronics pun there, but I had to do it or I would burst.
A lot of fascinating detail in this shot, and it certainly fit the theme, but as artistic photography, It's just a snapshot. I'm afraid I don't see any real composition to it. My eye just wanders around the frame. |
