Good lighting use to show off the details, but it's not wowing me. I think the right side that is hidden in shadows may be part of it. Perhaps it is cropped in a little to too tight for my taste. Not totally sure. This is one that is hard to nail down.

There's a lot of potential here and you did nicely in some regards, unfortunately, it's got some major problems holding it down. Seems quite grainy and not sharp in any area of the image. I think the lighting is just right to show off the stone and the details of the ring. Composition is pretty good as well, leading the eye a little off center to the stone. If the other elements were there, this would have a fair amount of visual pop to it.

This almost works for me, but it's not quite a killer shot. Not totally sure why. I like your shading in the background, but the clarity of the actual subject is still not spot on. It's hard to get a deep DOF at such range, and I think this one begs for more DOF and to be a little brighter.

Pretty good DOF for so close at an angle. The colors and details of this have a lot of dimension to them, and the comp just draws my eye right in.

Nice kitty! I don't see this quite as a macro, but it's certainly an extreme close up. More extreme than most people want to get. I like way the turquoise eye jumps out of the image.
