Schoolgirlby gsalComment: Highlights are a little washed out on her jacket, but I like the overall tone on this one and the catch in mid-jump. |

It looks like work, but they have fun doing it.by cassilda_terryComment: I like the b/w use here. Nice and contrasty, but still show a lot of detail. I think the tilt need to be either more of an angle, or straightened. It is just enough that it does not appear intentional. I see some compression artifacts around the girls heads that could have been avoided. Your file size is only 89k. Check your compression settings when you save your file. Always adjust JPEG compression so that your file size is as large as possible, but within the challenge limit. (150k for this one) |

Frustrationby awesomepossumComment: I really love the expression here and the idea being conveyed, but the lighting is poor with what looks like the use of an onboard flash. Too bright and slightly washed out close to the camera, and too dark further away. I've had some success with bouncing an onboard flash off the ceiling by simply taping a white index card in front of it, angled upward. How did the doodles score on the SAT? |

The Product of Mother Nature's Workby meganoComment: Nice, but I see lots of compression artifacts in the sky and around the high contrast edges. Your file size of only 53k indicates a highly compressed image and that is what is robbing a lot of the detail and sharpness from this image. Check your compression settings when you save your file. Always adjust JPEG compression so that your file size is as large as possible, but within the challenge limit. (150k for this one) |

Working Itby alexander1965Comment: Generally, I like this photo, it's cute and a unique approach. Little kids certainly learn how to "work it" and wrap some grownups around their fingers. Biggest composition problem is the traditional snapshot error of a tree growing out of the subjects head. Probably also, the subject is much too centered in the frame, though that's debatable as centered comp is sometimes effective.
The biggest problem, however, is that it seems blurred and unclear. I think most of it is due to the use of excessive JPEG compression. Your file size of only 49k indicates a highly compressed image and that is what is robbing most of the detail and sharpness from this image. I can see lots of compression artifacts around the high contrast edges. Check your compression settings when you save your file. Always adjust JPEG compression so that your file size is as large as possible, but within the challenge limit. (150k for this one) |

Shadow of Me working outsideby mellie430Comment: The whole thing seems soft on detail and slightly OOF, I'm afraid. The idea itself is low on creativity, I think we've all done one of these. I know I have, and it got only one comment from my daughter telling me what a geek I am. I think the biggest thing that might help this is to do something to bring out the detail and texture of that sand or soil. (See, I can't even tell what it is.) |

BARELY GETTING BYby QuigleyComment: Yeah, that looks like hard work. What's he doing? Makes me grateful for a decent paying job that gets some respect. Good colors, but the light is kind of harsh. Biggest thing I would suggest is to change the centered crop of the subject. |

TIGER-BW-0001-dpc.jpgby jblaylockraynerComment: Do you know how many times a friend or coworker has sent me an e-mail with a subject like "outstanding photos of the year" with one of these swimming tiger shots in it!? Awesome stuff. Hope you knew these would be passed around the internet! No controlling it now. |
