Feathers on back are very nicely depicted, and like the direction in which the head is pointed. I assume it was too dark and cloudy to use a smaller aperture and get better DOF (for the head).

Looks like some might dirty (or algae overgrown) water to give you that green reflection. Works well here.

Great focus, nice colors, like the paleness of the water. Regarding needing more room in front of the female, probably true, but the current composition gives me the feeling that the female is trying to get away from the male, so that is kind of cool.

Beautiful all around, both the egret and the rice field are great. Surprised you did not enter this in the stopped motion challenge, would have done well. But perhaps you have something even better up your sleeve for that one.
