The River Nidd at Knaresboroughby SaraRComment: There is a softness to this that really adds to the shot. It is not "soft" as in almost out of focus, but it still feels that way. very nice. |

Calmby anferhComment: This is a lovely composition, but it seems a bit "grainy" -- perhaps from compression or from too much sharpening? |

...water under the bridge...by MelethiaComment: I really like the warmth the lighting gives this, though it may be just a touch harsh on the structure. It is a well-balanced composition. |

Ebenezer Bridgeby alanfreedComment: I like the perspective of this and how the stream flows up and into the frame, leading the eye to the bridge. It does seem a bit flat to me though. Maybe a touch more contrast would help. |

VSOPby BAMartinComment: I really like how the flame seems to engulf the round thing, and completely surround it. Also, you have done a good job at exposing the flames so that you don't have hot spots (no pun intended). I'm so glad this didn't count in the Great '08 debate. :P

Winter Bluesby docjonnyComment: CRITIQUE CLUB CRITIQUE

I like this shot, I just wish there was more of it. You have good detail present, and the water is exposed well to get a "softness" to it. However, because of your tight crop, it is difficult to get the "feel" of the motion of the water. I think with a bit more at the top and/or left it would help convey that more.
The focus is good and exposure is pretty close because there is detail showing throughout the dark areas as well as the lighter ones. The blue color, while it does add to the overall "temperature" of the shot, still seems to be "off" in terms of white balance. The eye expects the ice to be white, so the blue seems a bit disconcerting. If you could keep some of the blue in the water, but make the ice a truer white, I think it would have had a slightly stronger impact.
If I need to further explain myself, or clarify anything, please feel free to contact me.
