Square Rootby SosigeneComment: I get the concept -- unique and a good take on it. Could have turned the dice to both showing "4" to make it even more "squarish."
I'd say your score was due more to the lighting and focus issues of the shot, more than the concept.
Good idea, though. |

Mall againby MelethiaComment: I like this one, but had I come across it voting I probably would have thought, "Oh look, another shot from above of a stair case." While it probably would have scored better than your entry, the other has much more character and more of a story behind it than this one could. |

Distancedby MelethiaComment: I did not get around to this when voting, and I wish I had've. I think it is awesome. It is spooky and disconnected, and reminds me of kids who are neglected and left alone on their own. It's like whoever is responsible for the little guy is just walking off. Or maybe, the little guy is leaving the stroller growing up and become more independent.
I think you entered the right one; sorry your average took a hit. |

Shoes connection by and1trickerComment: CRITIQUE CLUB CRITIQUE

Compositionally, I like this. It has good balanced feeling about it, and it shows "motion" by allowing the eyes to rest in one place (the shoe) and then go "out"
Technically, I really like it. The contrast is good and the exposure is good because it allows the splash to "blur."
Overall, I think this is a very good picture. It meets the challenge in a fun, quirky kind of way. It reminds me of my son who can't walk past a mud puddle, or puddle of water without jumping in the very middle of it. Fun times. The high contrast is also very appealing to me -- it is edgy enough to be interesting without hurting the eyeballs. :)
Great shot. Wished it could have scored a bit higher, as I think it is a very well done and fun looking shot. |
