Greetings from the Critique Club...

I believe the first paragraph in your post challenge comments probably sum up your result. Drug use is also not limited or specific to any particular decade in time. You can't expect much from any particular image when it's a rush job. Every now and then you will get lucky, but you can devise a weekly challenge plan that will improve the quality of your work. You may want to try something like this:

Day 1 and 2: Brainstorm the topic and throw out the first 5 ideas you come up with. Look for a unique idea.

Day 2 and 3: Think about how you want to make your photo happen and visualize what you want it to look like.

Days 4-7: Execute your image. If it doesn't look like your visualization, keep trying.

Greetings from the Critique Club...

I think the few comments you received sum up the image fairly well. The image doesn't show the challenge topic in a way that comes to the viewer quickly and concisely. I personally don't care for the curtain on the left. I understand it's role in the image, but it creates a bit of competition with your subject, and the role it plays does not support the theme of the image. I like the method and perspective you chose for this image though.

I'm giving this photo a 10, but I think it needs a little more breathing room between the edges of the subject and the border. It's a bit cramped... it does make an excellent b/w though.. nice work :)

This is an excellent photo. I remember seeing something on TV about these rocks in Death Valley... the phenomenon is quite intriguing! Excellent work... 10

I'm surprised that most of my commenters can't associate old rusted out cars with country life. I suppose i needed to stand back and show the country environment to prove that it's in the country and not on Times Square :)

This is a beautiful image, but there seems to be some sort of odd artifacting or filtering that is giving it a wierd feel...

I think the saturation here is a bit heavy.
