A critical eye on his liquids.by jjbeguinComment: This is my favorite photo this week. I love the lighting and the overall mood/theme of this photo. This photo screams 'wine' to me. I don't like your title though... = 10 |

Smooth black coffeeby peter_kComment: This meets the challenge, but I'm giving it a 1 anyway... The only thing interesting about this photo for me is the border. choosing tho shoot this out of focus doesn't seem to work for me.. |

It Goes By Quicklyby thatguyComment: In general, I don't care for photographs that are literal interpretations of another piece of 'art'. just my opinion tho... |

Matrix - Day Offby RoseytoneComment: Greetings from the Critique Club :)
Hi Roseytone...
Compositionally, I think this image is pretty strong. I always seem to like diagonals. Lines that lead my eye horizontally and vertically in a photo seem to be boring :)
The lighting on the image is a bit harsh. All the textures are visible, but there could probably be an enhancement to this with some amount of diffusion of your light source.
The focus is too soft as well. Based on the camera you are using, I would assume that you are simply too close to the subject or you have used a little too much zoom for the particular distance to subject. I feel that a shot like this should be crisply in focus. There is no realy reason for a soft focus here.
Attention to detail in a shot like this is important also. If you are going to take the time to setup a nice composition and provide interesting lighting, don't let little things like dust on your subject be a 'leftover' :)
Cheers :)

Listen!by eikidigiComment: interesting shot... i like the blue/yellow tones of the lighting... i think this would make a good product photo if there was a bit more highlight on the brand name / logo on the lower left... I also feel that the composition may be a little too tight at the top... maybe just a bit of extra breathing room up there would be good also :) |
