After the bathby nygoldComment: IMO this has some issues that seriously detract from the image. The far side of the water acts as a horizon line in the image and it isn't level. The leaves and foliage on the far side of the water compete with the ducks for attention. The lighting is ok on near ducks, but the ducks still in the water look blown out. White water birds are very though to get lighting right on.
If you crop off part of the leftmost duck, you should also crop off part of the rightmost one for symmetry.
The different poses are priceless and well captured. Nice color on the beaks and feet. |

Fruit Plateby sfaliceComment: The processing makes the raspberries in the center and some of the strawberries look metallic. Very nice colors, lighting, and arrangement. |

Quite a comment on the Canon 60D's capabilities at 6400 ISO, yes?

I'm all eyesby whiterookComment: Nice bird image. I really like that the bird appears to be looking at you, and the feather lifted up by the wind. Wonderful detail and texture in the feathers.
Not sure why, but to me the head looks a bit soft - perhaps a bit more dof? On the other hand, this is a great example of using a blurred background to make your main subject stand out.
To me, this is a very peaceful image - calming, encouraging. |

Tendrilsby dtremainComment: Since the commenters seem to want some kind of explanation - here it is: I did not realize how similar the images were since I took them from two positions that were quite different until I was putting together the diptych for entry. At that point, it was too late to try to shoot anything else.
The top image was shot along the tendril and almost at the same level - note the OOF left to in-focus right and the position of the right leaf and the "seeker".
The bottom image was shot from directly centered and above the tendril (note it is in focus the entire length, and again note the position of the right leaf and "seeker").
For me, this was a great "educational" entry as it reinforced the difference between real world experience and mental vision vs. the image the camera captures.
It provides the experience that shows real-world experience and perspective don't cound - if it isn't in the captured image, it - for the viewer - simply does not exist. |

Covered Bridges - Oct 2007 Issueby dtremainComment: Except you can't drive a semi across it without tearing it up pretty bad, as an IL truck driver did in Sept. 2012. Fortunately, they were able to repair / restore the bridge, and it was again opened to car traffic the end of June 2013.
