Get out of the.....by GilesComment: No comments - probably because it comes across as a meh picture. It soft-of falls into the "What is it?" category, and with the word being mostly upside down, requires some effort and thought to figure out. Then, there is no real relation between the word and the image.
For me, the technicals are good, but there is no clear meaning or message, so it is hard to relate to. Message edited by author 2012-02-03 11:40:30. |

Own a house by the waterby whiterookComment: Nice photo. Look at all the 5's (and non-trivial number of 6's). I think the lack of immediate connection to the challenge title is what hurt your score. You might take a look at a crop just inside the buoys - it would be less panoramic, but really wouldn't take anything away from the shot. Good work!

Christmas Treeby whiterookComment: As I'm sure you discovered, glass globes are very difficult to get a good picture of. However, you got a great picture of this one! I think the shot would have been more effective if you'd set the globe on the white cloth used for the background, made the background smooth (the wrinkles / folds detract a lot), and kept the near side of the base in the frame. My wife tells me that you should only trim a subject symmetrically - that is, if you crop off part of the object on the bottom, you should also crop a bit off the top too - same for both sides, rather than just one. |
