Framing her face to the hole would have -- I almost said ruined it. No, you might have gotten a good image doing that too, but you would have broken this image. As it is, the broken glass takes the shape and suggestion of an apparition looking back at your daughter. That said apparition seems to emanate from the child's figure (her imagination?) is even more striking.
