St. Gonçalo by vtrpinaComment: Good idea, but I don't like the way it's cropped. The triangle is clipped on the right, there's a step in the lower left that could easily have been cropped out, there are some words that are eclipsed by the triangle, and the leading lines miss what appears to be a secondary subject in the background. Better DOF might have helped too. |

Angles Upby MechHausComment: Nice idea, but the focus isn't the best (hand shake?) and the buildings to the right are a distraction amidst all those great leading lines. Also, the underexposed bottom of the image doesn't do much. And the lighting's not the most flattering -- playing with the color balance might have helped, but shooting under different lighting conditions (earlier or later in the day) is a better bet. Probably more than you wanted to hear from me, but I love these kinds of shots (and architecture is my specialty if I have one).
This is a great composition and idea, but I would have fits trying to get an effective crop out of it. |

River by Nightby bobonacusComment: What a tough challenge this was. I like this, but I think the oversaturation might have hurt you. It is a little harsh. The other problem (out of your control) is the Basic editing parameters. There's a lot of detail in this image that either got lost in the JPEG comression or the 640 size limit. I suspect it looked much better before resizing/compressing. Also, I'm very careful with USM after resize. It's powerful, and these days, I'm actually finding more and more use for high pass sharpen.
All that said, you did better in this challenge than I did! (which doesn't say much). |

Anole Close upby crikComment: Looking at your profile, and at this, I'd have to say greens and yellows are your thing. (I seem to be into dull blues, grays and blacks lately -- what's that say?) Anyway, great capture here and I do love the bright earthy colors. |
