I would not have scored this high at all. It's an interesting subject, but looks terribly overexposed. I think that mislead a lot of people in this challenge (not necessarily you) -- just because it's dappled or filtered light, doesn't mean it's protected from overexposure. You made the right choice passing on this (although I still think there's a good photo there, but under more subdued lighting).

I like this better. The BW struck me as either too high in contrast or overexposed in places. I think some of the warm subtle colors are needed to give it feeling.

Nicely framed and it seems you captured him at just the right moment (he's playing ferocious for the camera). The lighting is adequate, but the focus is soft which, I think, takes from the potential impact.
