School on the Urban Frontierby brayburnComment: This is good. I like that you made the academic (?) building in the foreground your subject against the backdrop of the city. It's slightly OOF and the sky is ever-so-slightly noisy, but it's well composed and interesting. |

Urban Directionsby TammerComment: Because you have no comments... I gave this a six. It's not a true landscape, but neither were a lot of shots in this challenge. It's urban enough though. I like dramatic angles, and I've had in mind to shoot something like this for a while (a street sign/light pole shot from this angle). It needs a little something else -- maybe better lighting (nearer to dawn or dusk) or something interesting in the signage. Still, a good study in urban scenery. |

Table Settingby krnodilComment: The concept alone is brilliant. Excellent execution as well. Don't you wish they all went this well? |

a lifestyle under threatby rozComment: Classic case of the challenge title and challenge description being ever so slightly in disagreement; one says "object" the other says "subject". "Object" implies something very singular and discrete, and the challenge title is always the most visible. I agree with you though -- your "subject" is the group on the beach.
The unnatrual blue color here really gives the photo its impact. It's beautifully ominous, if that's possible, and I think that's what draws the viewer into it. Closer investigation reveals something far more foreboding and less pretty. So an expert job carrying your message from composition through to post-processing. Dresdenby MephistoComment: Excellent contrast. Fisheye was used to good effect. I love the tangled web of street lines and light. An eight for you. |
