Portrait - 03 - Taylorby KenComment: The expression is fine -- even if it's not completely relaxed, it's genuine. I like the tight framing and the slight angle. The focus in the right eye (her left) seems a bit soft relative to the other eye, but maybe I'm looking too hard. It's a nice portrait. |

After a Lossby karmatComment: Can't believe I haven't commented on your most recent submissions yet. This is terrific! Not sure how you processed the black and white -- looks like maybe you got some mileage out of the oft neglected blue channel. In any case, very good capture of emotion, and the slightly harsh processing (the hair -- wow!) works beautifully here. |

But, Mommaby karmatComment: Now this is classic! The pouty face, the disheveled hair, the single pony tail over her shoulder. The colors are great and the processing suits this well. A little more brightness in the eyes would have been nice, but it's a minor quibble. It's great the way it is. Good use of composing with lines too. |

Larryby karmatComment: I like the pose here, they way he's leaning into the frame. It gives it some dimension. |

Cheyby karmatComment: Great capture of youth. I like the colors and the background. The light is good too. Not wild about the processing. Either the focus is too soft or too much noise reduction was applied -- most obiovus in her face. It's not terrible, and maybe it's just a matter of personal tast, but it just strikes me as somewhat artificial.
She's a pretty girl.

Dadby LonniComment: Very genuine, obviously not posed or staged (if it is, then he gets an Oscar). The blurred watch distracts somewhat, and I'm not sure it or the contents of his shirt pocket are necessary anyway. I like the textures in his face, and the sunlight catches his hair nicely. I think this would be great in black-and-white too. |
