I like how abstract this is - but at the same time you can easily tell what it is, I like being able to see the texture of the curtains. I am left a little lost - the composition doesn't have a focus or direction - maybe a shadow behind the curtain - a human silouette? I guess it is pure and simple the way it is - I just wish it were more compelling.

I like the black on the top right balanced by the gray on the bottom and how both set off the feather and its shadow. the texture of the feather is a nice detail - I wish I could see it better. The area wher the eather and its shadow overlap is a bit busy with all the "feathering" lines - I might have tried to continue the upper shadow to beneather the feather - I do like the feathering against the solid dark and the feathering of the shadow against the grey forground. I'd edit out that tiny white spot on the right, top... but now I'm just getting picky. Nicely done 7

dramatic angles, vivid lighting, gorgeous sky. You took advantage of a great subject and environment, and did an excellent job. I might have cropped after the first arch on the right of center - the other arches and architectural details are a bit much, and distract the eye away from the tower whereas the black silouette on the left leads your eye up to it. 8

I like your idea for a subject - all the layers - the glass, the wate, the edges where they intersect all this give interesting opportunities for a duotone picture. However I find the colors too washed out - I'd like to see this darker. I find the rim of the bowl(?) in the back distracting - it takes away from the lines created by the glass and the water. Wish you could have gotten a larger DOF.

The cool frosty blue hue is perfect for this lonely tree. The white tips of the branches look like a dusting of snow. The composition including the small bush emphasizes the loneliness, and the fence give a feeling of being closed off. The white tips of the tree are balances nicely by the dark blue shadow on the ground - wish the fence post didn;t intersect it. But I really enjoy this pict. 8

Comfortable Silence

Comfortable Silence

I like the eye contact between these two. I'm not sure I feel it is a comfortable silence - the man looks more like he is imparting a telepathic lesson to the dog and the dog is attening carefully. The detail in and the sweep of the dogs fur is really lovely - while it is sharp in focus I can imagine how soft it would be to touch. The form of the dog is more 3d than the man - perhaps another light at aninterscting angle or have the man turn his face a little more to the camera to get more depth. There is a lot of white space which doesn't really mean anything - perhaps the space is filled by the comfortable silence? I would have to see that more in theri expressions. I'd have the dog and man on a level - there wouldn;t be as much space over the dog that way.6

A very vivid pict. With these deep tomes, this photo looks almost like a graphic. I like the range deep rust to pale amber. The great swaths of white call out to the skier in me. The fram you chose doesn't add to the photo - I'd like just a plain, thin black or brown edge. I like the composition with the dark mountains in the middle, and down from that the diagonal sweep of the small foreground valley. I might have cropped the bottom of the frame where that diagonal meets the left edge. Very enjoyable. 7

This is a favorite view of mine. The angle of the clouds points dramatically to Hallgrimskirkja, with a glimmer of the sun's rays dropping down to the city. The golden tone is perfect with the title. I would have included more of the city below the clouds (would the shoreline minic the line of clouds at this angle?) and maybe have put the church into the frame a bit more. But this way it really emphasizes the sky and clouds. Wish the clouds had more definition, not quite so soft. But I think this one would look good on the wall! 7

Nice detail on the exoskelleton. Very nice composition with the body of the bug coming down from the corner, his antenae waving in empty space. small DOF allows the viewer to focus attention on the bug. The shaddow in the back isn't terribly distracting, I just keep looking at it wondering how it fits in. I think this might work in color too. But its dramatic in doutone. 8

Three Ducks

Comment:
The duotone works so well here where colors might be distracting. This shows up the contrast between the clouds and the ducks - tiny black silouettes against a grand luminous cumulous! I like the darkness under the cloud - it emphasizes its weight. and the gentler definition at the top. Where were you? You must have been very quik to get the camera up when the ducks flew by. Wish the shutter speed had been high enough to freeze the wings - they are a little blurred, but I'm just being picky. 8
