Old fisherman's hutby ArnarHComment: your composition is very strong...... the shed and the lighthouse are classic..... I do think that the hut would benefit from being better lit and the lighthouse is a tad washed out. (now that might be because of fog) |

At Waterwheel Farmby skewsmeComment: what a wonderful and interesting subject to shoot.....your choice of the duotone color was a good one....... I do think that you could improve the composition of this photo by shooting it from an angle that isolates the waterwheel from the rather mundane background in this shot. |

She played on ...by kari1Comment: I imagine the histogram looks great on this shot as it is so well exposed...... your title gives me goose bumps.. she is playing on is spite of the gathering storm the sky fortells.... I would have loved to have seen only the darkening sky behind her....... impossible to mend in basic eding but you might want to do so after the challenge...I would buy an edited print of this shot because her expression speaks to her determination to make her music heard |

Playing fowlby CaillieComment: Sepia was a real good pick for this shot.....your crisp focus highlighted the amazing pattern in the bird's feathers.... their eyes are so expressive, esp the guy on the left... ha.. his expression makes me laugh out loud! The body of the third bird is superfluous and kind of detracts from the story you are telling with your photo....I know you can't clone it out for this challnge (basic editing) but you might want to after - hope this helps! |

Winter at the summer farmby ebbeComment: A lovely, lovely winter scene...... the barn makes the evergreens look very tall, (good to have a frame of reference in regards to trees)... I really like how the the blanket of snow on the roof is so pure and soft and the snow drifts against the barn make me remember harsh winters in the Northeast.. the one suggestion I have is the trees on the left are distracting.. crop them out and it would make a better composition |

Ol' Man Winter's Vision of a Perfect Day by the Waterby rick13601Comment: What I really love about this photo is how everything is iced over..... great composition and well focussed.. the blue is on the warm side and maybe a cooler blue would have been a better choice.... still, a really good photo that suits the challenge and makes me shiver! |

Industrial Revolutionby EricMGB1974Comment: When I look at this photo I say to myself "what is that.. what is that little house doing up there? what did this used to be?" - when I ask questions like this after viewing a photo, that is a good sign, and what I like about this shot is it makes me think.. what might improve the overall composition is getting rid of the tree brances.. they take my focus away from the industrial quality of the shot. I realize that might have been impossible to do in a basic challenge |

National Past Timeby yankoComment: Strong compostion, beautifully photographed with crisp focus.. your choice of duotone color was perfect... for me, I would rather not see the text at all.. just the beautiful texture of the ball (which you rendered perfectly) I really appreciate how you contrasted the old baseball with the new.... good job! |
