Great impact in this image! The b&w and somewhat unfocused look is reminiscent of a WWII image, but then again we wouldn't be seeing those particular vehicles, now, would we :-) What a great reminder of the different situations that we find ourselves in. Thank you so much for sharing your (often beige!) world with us because these are glimpses into a world that I would otherwise not get to view... More importantly I am eternally grateful for your service and the sacrifices you've made to be there in the first place :-)

Congrats to Nimue! A marvelous image, you've captured her exuberance perfectly! As for the sky, I'm one of those odd people who actually like blown backgrounds in the right circumstances, and this sure fits the bill :-) I think this is great as is, what a little cutey pie!

She is absolutely gorgeous! I know nothing about portrait photography (except of cats of course), but I couldn't help playing with such a lovely image! Hope you don't mind, here's what I did:
Cropped, added a channel mixer layer to convert to b&w then reduced the layer opacity to 76%, used the burn tool to darken the left side of her face to blend into shadow, did a bit of unsharp mask just around her eyes and mouth, then brightened her eyes a tad by making a copy of the irises and setting the layer opacity to 80%. I don't know about it being better processed, but it is different :-)

Love the backlighting, and the shot looks so wonderful in dark b&w! That front cow looks pretty menacing, good thing there was a fence :-)

You make brushes look GOOOOD! Love the fact that one is in your face while the other is just a trace. I'm getting so hooked on this type of processing!!!

I would never have thought to cut off the heads, and I LOVE it this way!! Really makes you focus on the skateboards and body language of the kids. Excellent!
