day 5 silhouetteby fotofanComment: Sweet: AMAZING silhouette and color of the sky with a dynamic composition to boot!! Have you done anything PP to make the sky this wonderful color? Just lovely!
Sour: the overexposed part of the sky, which indicates you could still have achieved the silhouette while using a faster shutter speed/smaller aperture. If it weren't for that, this would do very well in a challenge because the quality of the sky is visible right on the thumbnail. |

3/7 Coffee...Shudderby jonfrommkComment: OK - we are total opposites Jon. I LOVE COFFEE and Starbucks probably even more - coffee nirvana to me! So, take heart, I can't be 100% objective in my comments.
What I especially love about your shot is the selective desat - really brings the subject of your hatred into focus (I think you probably hate Starbucks more than the beverage they serve). I think you did a very good job on the desat - can't see where you can spot faults in it. I also love the customer walking out and the one talking on the cell - both give a sense of the hustle & bustle that these places can have (aaaahhhh! sweet memories...).
Sour note: the metal bar on the left. Maybe shooting from the far left would have left it out.
This pic made my day!! That's how much I love coffee!! |

day 3 A Day at the Parkby fotofanComment: I love herons. Those are birds with CLASS!
You did a very good job of catching a classic heron pose against a great "bokehed" BG. The eye is especially sharp and striking.
On the sour side... ummm, can't really think of anything. The composition is right on... If I was picky, picky, I guess I'd wish for side lighting that would provide more contrast and texture in the feathers? But that's really pushing it.
Wonderful picture! |

2/7 Zeeba Neighbaby jonfrommkComment: I love zebras too. They are the "xen animals" of the kingdom. I can't imagine an angry zebra - they seem too friendly.
Sweet: great contrast and pin sharp stripes. I like how the zebra is offset by the green grass.
Sour: I would want to see the entire legs or else, crop further to focus only on the head. |

day 2 FIVE to enterby fotofanComment: Great picture! Love the DOF and how you chose to position the game pieces in the back so that we can still identify the parchesi game even without reading your comment. Did you have to glue them for it to hold on top like this? Very good idea for this challenge theme (yes, it is ENVY seeping through!!)
Sour comment: as others have side, white balance is on the warm side. But it still doesn't take anything out of this picture.
Man, I wish I had thought of that :) |

1/7 OK Fungai..Tell Me A Jokeby jonfrommkComment: John, I certainly would not eat that one - just the color makes it look poisonous. And not to get too technical here, but I think the only point in common between foot fungus and mushrooms is actually their reproduction mode. In fact, they are not part of the same family. Comparing them on the same level is like comparing humans with other mammals.
In all seriousness, I really like this photo: it is very sharp, the DOF is great and the water droplets give it context. My wish for a perfect world: that the crop wasn't as tight and maybe a different angle.
Very good beginning! Can't wait to see what else you'll shoot our way. |

day 1 I hate when that happensby fotofanComment: Sweet: I like that you selected the toilet paper as your point of focus. The DOF and the lighting are both good.
Sour: I would have moved the chair. Not only is its place in the picture distracting, but the white color really calls attention to it vs the muted colors of the rest of the image.
Nice beginning! |

Walking Meby cginoComment: I love this shot and your camera is barely noticeable. I love the lines the window frames create and there is a lot to look for in the picture. Very lively and well done! |

City League Champs: Red 3, Blue 2by colorcarnivalComment: I would love to see that with a tighter crop around tha main two players. it would help bring the action in focus. The expression of the boy in red trying to steal the ball is priceless. |
