I'm somewhat new to this but since you've asked for comments, I'll give it a try. There is great detail in the wood and I think in this challenge, people voted high for detail. The DOF is done well. All I can see that is missing is color. Maybe a little more color would have made it more interesting and therefore may have scored higher, especially with the speed voters.
