the shadow is feature less, the sky has no drama.
I'm not sure you wanted to attract the attention to the antennas or the bird.

I am sure this picture means a lot to you. What are other viewers seeing? A boy goin next to a man. THey seem unrelated, they are not facing eachother, they are not interacting at all. Both bodies seem very soft.

These birds are very tough to photograph. To balance between the dark background and the white feathers is most difficult. Unfortunately you picked (had to pick) a time when the sun was up very high, creating this high contrast situation. Unless you correct your camera by underexposing, the camera will think it's a dark picture and expose to the background, blowing out the whites in the bird.

IMO this picture mainly missing a clear story. It seems you had to decide between the nice colors and the woman on the trail. But you couldn't decide so you got a little bit of both in.
