The Jokerby stupidcatComment: Composition: I like the placement of the elements within the frame.
Lighting/Exposure: Light is good. Focus seems a tad off on the face. It seems that the focal point was on the card and it managed to get the card and the nose :)
Pose: I rather like the pose.
Suggestions for Improvements: A clean card ;) I think that at f4, had you focused on the nose instead of the card, it would have all fallen into the focal plane quite well.
I love your creativity. Looking forward to more :) |

#1by bspurgeonComment: Composition: GREAT leading lines!
Lighting/Exposure: Lighting and sharpness is spot on. Her catchlights are beautiful.
Pose: In action. It fits a child this age so well.
Suggestions for Improvements: None that I can think of. I think if you lost the top, those leading lines would disappear. Very nicely done.
SHE IS SO FRIKKIN CUTE!!! :) |

Day 4: Ryanby socalsteveComment: Composition: I am a bit distracted by the line running through the car on the left side. I do like your choice of placement of the kid in the frame though.
Lighting/Exposure: Light is nice. Sharpness is good as well.
Pose: I really like that he has a stand-offish pose. Fits.
Suggestions for Improvements: Let us see a bit more of that car, get rid of that line, and this is cherry :)
Teens are oftentimes difficult (unless they are girls! lol) to photograph without getting some sort of lip out of them. Even if it is just in pose ;) You captured a very teen moment here. Nicely done. |

#2by breadfan35Comment: Composition: I like the centered comp. Not too fond of the extra space around him.
Lighting/Exposure: Spot on.
Pose: You have a little head tilt here, which is good. I don't like that the shoulders are rounded.
Suggestions for Improvements: With a headshot like this, I would have him hook one of his thumbs into a beltloop or put one hand on a hip to make his shoulders come more alive. I would also crop out some of the unnecessary space around him top and bottom.
He looks so much like a cowboy that has seen too many cattle get away. This is a lovely representation. |

#1by breadfan35Comment: Composition: Good job placing the eyes at the top of the frame.
Lighting/Exposure: I am loving the way the light falls off into shadow that isn't quite shadow. Retention of details is wonderful.
Pose: Very nice head tilt :)
Suggestions for Improvements: I am lamenting the loss of half your right ear. :)
Very nice first portrait. You command the lighting well. I look forward to seeing more. |

Hue Are You?by jhess77Comment: Composition: I like the placement of the person in the catchlight. Very nice.
Lighting/Exposure: Your light is wonderful and your focus is spot on. The reflection looks almost menacing.
Pose: N/A
Suggestions for Improvements: I think you could lose the top of this down to just above your eyebrow and it would improve the viewing experience.
That is a very nice eye and you brought a bit of interest to it with the reflection. Very nicely done. |

Well My Eye Has 24mp/cm^2by incubusComment: Composition: I am digging the placement of the magnifier. It really commands attention.
Lighting/Exposure: You have nice transitions from light to shadow. I like the soft light and the catchlights in the magnifier.
Pose: Perfect for what you are trying to achieve.
Suggestions for Improvements: I can't really think of any.
This is a very clever idea and very well executed. |

Familiar to Meby jhess77Comment: Composition: I really like this angle. I am not fond of the arm there... assuming you are holding the cam? :)
Lighting/Exposure: Catchlights are nice. The light is harsh on the top of your head though.
Pose: I never really go for a shot where both eyes are on an even line. I like to see just a bit of a head tilt.
Suggestions for Improvements: Room between you and the wall behind you. A shot at f4 or f3.5 would have helped the composition, methinks. Perhaps a bit of diffusion for that light :)
A very nice first portrait for this SC. I am feeling like you are a little angry with the expression :) |

overtakenby photokariangelComment: Composition: I love love love love the tight crop here and the placement of your eye in the frame. Your fingers make lovely leading lines.
Lighting/Exposure: Spot on.
Pose: Creepy positioning of the hand.
Suggestions for Improvements: None.
This is very striking. Nicely done! |

Day 04 - Jeeheby shalrathComment: Composition: Again, it's lovely that she is lying down and there is headspace above her. It really adds a lot to the shot.
Lighting/Exposure: Your flare is wonderful. Is that an earring or just a spot of light under her head there?
Pose: Lovely profile shot.
Suggestions for Improvements: I'd like to see she shadows darkened a bit.
You are doing some wonderful portrait work here. I can't wait to see more :) |
