I am with Barry on this one. The picture is of good quality and well taken but it just didn't go with the flow of the challenge. Keep in mind when you are shooting for a challenge that there will be many different interpritations of the meaning and try to KISS the viewer (Keep It Simple Shutterbug) without making them have to think too hard.

A possible option here would have been to surround the old with the new.

Okay, one thing that catches me right off is the tight crop and the busyness of the photograph. There is simply too much going on and one doesn't know where to look first. Your colours are stunning though. Settings look good for the shot. Keep in mind that the natural inclination of the viewer is to look top right first and go clockwise from there. That may help. I hope so :)

Wow she's quite a looker!! You did a good job with only a lamp for light. I would have liked to see her face turned a little bit more towards the camera just because of the shadow from her hair but it is a lovely portrait anyway :)
