Shells for Lighting Practiceby WalesPComment: Supreme! This is a very well lit photograph! I appreciate the complications of using a mirror ;) LOL I would like to see the grouping a little less blown apart but if you were working on your lighting, I say, FANTABULOUS all the way around hehe |

fluff.jpgby noth1021Comment: MUCH better!! You can see the kitty's eye colour (beautiful). Do you have any kind of editing software? The kitty is a hair dark and could use a slight levels (light) adjustment. Also, your shot would not suffer with a crop out of that brightly lit spot on the left. It would pull more focus to the kitty and its pose. For a cat that docile, I would also drop my ISO as low as I could get it and shoot with a slower shutter speed (1/40s?) for less noise, if you open your aperture to f4 or 5, it should get you wide open enough to have some room to play with the settings a bit :)
Improvement already? What ARE they going to do with you around here?? ;) |

you staring at something.jpgby noth1021Comment: Be careful of onboard flash when photographing cats and dogs, it washes out the black of the pupil because of the nature of the eye :)
Cute cat! Hopefully, we will see much more of it as your time here at DPC gets longer :)
Next mission, enter a challenge and join the update button addiction LOL |

stargazer lilly.jpgby noth1021Comment: This is a nice photo. A few things I notice about it are: 1.)Your background is very distracting, pay close attention when you are shooting anything and if needed, try to change your angle of view to exclude the bg or change it slightly. In this image, simply rising up a few more inches so the only thing back there is the road might help it a bit. 2.) Your DOF is really shallow and with your angle of view it might behoove you to focus on something other than the stamen of the flower. 3.) Your colours seem a little washed out (you can improve upon this in a photo editing application if you have one).
That's all for now. I hope you have a great time at DPC and hope to see more of you around the forums and in the side challenges (we are starting 30 days in black and white on Sept 1st if you are interested).
