Hey Roger, surprised I'm the first to comment on this shot. This is a beautiful macro. Great colors, tack sharp, and that shadow has the profile of a leopard on it. You might think about cropping the left hand side a bit, perhaps about where the center vein on the background leaf hits the bottom.

Great choice for B+W. I actually like the hint of the cross in the background that echoes the subject better than if it was popped through HDR.

Cool tower. Focus looks a little softer on the top than on the brick. Not sure if that's just because of the contrast with the sky, or a wide f-stop thrown off by the camera angle. You're right that architectural shots often look better straight on than at an angle up, but this one has some nice elements and framing to it.
