you're probably going to get a lot of comments that say this is a little too "snapshotty" and i would have to agree. all the stuff in the b/g only serves to distract and it would be much better to have sat the baby up more so that his/her face was more toward that camera.
NOW that being said, these types of shots are precious and to be kept carefully where they cannot be lost. I would assume from the shot this is his great grandchild? I envy that, my grandmother died 5 months before my first child was born. I would have loved my children to know her. enjoy seeing this as much as you can for as long as you can.

i'd be interested to see the aperature settings for this shot. the hand seems more in focus than the eyes. still i love this shot,the grain and his expression and the b&w all work together quite well. /8

i can easily see this on the front page. it has the elderly factor and the homeless factor. both of which seem to do well with the voters. for me i give you points for your b&w conversion, its beautifully done. /8

the crown on the head is cute. the sepia treatment leaves something to be desired and i know it probably sounds nit-picky but the full page ad on the back of the newspaper draws the eye. /6

i can't think of a negative thing to say about this shot, you did a good job on the b&w conversion, which is difficult in basic editing since you can't spot dodge the eyes. the expression on his face is something between satisfaction and wistfullness. excellent work. /9
