Speedy Duckby SomeamateurComment: Exposure is good in this image, with the light coming from behind and one side. You got the pattern in the feathers to show up without overexposing other important areas of the bird. If possible I always try to shoot with the sun somewhere behind me when doing wildlife photos. This helps to eliminate deep shadow areas, like around this bird's eye in the image.
It appears that you are truly interested in digital photography, as you have good equipment. This site has much to offer in sharing the knowlege and work of many excellent photographers.
I see that you have not posted many photos to your profile at this time, and hope that you will keep shooting and posting photos from your part of the world. Aus has great photo ops with all the unique wildlife and beautiful landscapes. |

St. Louis Arch - Night Shotby pottersclay75Comment: This is a very catchy image of an amazing structure. I am glad that you knew that you could get this effect at night, and that you did it so well. Great play on perspective with the way that the arch diminishes in size to the top and increases again on the far side of the river. The designer would be proud of this image. |

Huckleberry on Old Cedarby WinkComment: Very nice the way the beam of light lifts the plant out of the dark background. Huckleberries grow here in Florida as well, but in sandy soil where it gets damp, and in the direct sun. |

Fly By by kloutitComment: Beautiful colors and bird. Perfect composition, depth of field and focus. I would have voted this at 9 without no reservations.
As for my personal impression, this is of the finest bird images that I have seen. |

sometimes you feel like a nut ...by pamelasueComment: Nice job of photographing a forlorn looking coconut, and it fits the challenge format well. The loose fibers add some texture and character. Brown seems to match the implied depressed mood with the "eyes."
She reminds me of a pet party coconut that a group I was with had with us in Bimini. We named it "Coco P Nutso," and everything was fine until we landed in Ft Lauderdale. The customs people took him away from us at the airport :P |

Boston 1-2-07-6-640 ( Blackberries )by krglComment: Though it takes a lot of flash to get the seed pods, it's a bit strong on the limbs in the foreground. They look "flashed," which I think is not what you wanted.
I'm not sure how you would get around this and still get this view without just shooting multiple images and layering them. I get into this kind of shooting situation myself, and would like to know, if you solve the problem while shooting, how you did it. |

Simplicityby Blue MoonComment: A strange composition of lines and circles, but that's not a bad thing. The dark area behind the nearest drop makes the line going up do the right thing. Looks like some camera shake in the details.
Good observation to see this, and to quickly and accurately capture it. |

From The Cameraby surfinbirdComment: This less saturated view looks more natural than the comp image.
Did you think about cropping it from just above the fence in the foreground then right at the far end of the pipe? Too bad you didn't reshoot this for the "Diagonal" challenge. |

Breathlessby BradComment: What you said, and PP makes it even better. The thumb just screams "Click Me," and the full size is a butt kicker! This one is going straight to faves.
The power line adds scale. Thanks for sharing! Message edited by author 2007-01-04 01:42:32. |
