When I saw the thumb, I thought "why did he photogaph an attic?" I used to do air conditioning work, so I guess my mind is conditioned to think about that.
In the full size image, there is good use of the perspective effect of the repeating patterns, and just enough detail in the sand to give a sense of the depth of the image.

Looks like the "all American family farm" in this imge. I like the time of day lighting too. You may want to think about shooting it when the full moon is rising at about this time of day, so you can use the moon for an element of the image. If you are fortunate, you may be able to get the pink clouds that happen sometimes in the east when the sun sets too.

I thought about posting an image of our post office, but it is nothing special at all. This building looks mysterious the way you have presented it, and with no sign on the plaque over the door.
