1-june 08. before&after. paper waspby rozComment: Hi Roz!
It looks like you have been on the fire trail with your macro lens again. I don't think it would have done so well in the free study either, mostly because even though it is very clear and sharp, a little more DOF to get that left antenae and right front leg in focus would have made it a little better. Emotions seem to get involved with the voting if you post something that makes most people a little uncomfortable to see due to conditioning, and that results in lower scores sometimes too. I feel that you made a good decision.
You did a nice job with your magic bag of processing tricky stuff to get it from the original to the finished shot. The tiny details like the toothy edge of the mandible make it interesting to see. Thanks for putting the processing details in with the image.
Life gets exciting for a while when you stir up a big nest of these little critters. |

paralax addressed.jpgby wehrmacherComment: This was a good job of widening the image to improve composition. I would not have thought about doing that, except possibly with a very important image.
I like flower shots, and this is a very good one with the way the light presents the colors in the orchids. |

The Ringsby IvoryComment: Another lovely shot from you. I like the even roundness of the circles, and the way you made them stand out from the level surface of the water. The leaves under the surface are a perk too. |

Bovines Country Domainby IvoryComment: Just amazing and so "Ivory." The shooting and processing with this shot are great.
I never knew that cattle would grow hair like that in the winter. They certainly don't do that here where it rarely gets below 40 F at night. |

Golden Sun Lightby IvoryComment: Beautiful image. I like the lighting on the leaves in the foreground and the colors in this. The plain area behind the stems does a lot to set off the flowers from the background and make leading lines to the flowers at the same time. |

Time Travelers?by MaryOComment: I truly enjoy silly signs, and this is a grand one! Thanks, and it's nicely photographed too. The phone number is almost "BR-549" from "Hee Haw" the tv show. |

couldn't wait.jpgby laurie241Comment: Woo Hoo!
It's time to break out the "Chips Ahoy" and milk. I made the mistake of opening this group of food shots that you posted, and my eyes went straight to this one.
The only changes that I see that I would make would be to change the background to blue for a cooler look with the milk, and clean the edge of the glass on the left side. Lighting and composition are excellent.
Still, the shot gives me the munchies. |

A long, cold wait for the busby rhadshawComment: This is a good idea and the overall shot is very interesting to me because the place is so different from the Florida scenes that I see daily.
I like the leading line zig zag in the left lower corner, and the way the light plays to the brighter center, as well as the starring of the lights from the f11 aperture.
It's an interesting scene, and photographed nicely too.
Try tungsten white balance sometime when you shoot nights in town where the sodium lights are orange. It also works great in the country side with moon light, and results in a sweet blue sky at night. |

Inseparableby CrystalFuryComment: The border isn't too great for this shot. I think that it may be the color of the border. The overall softness looks like a late in the day shot, which is nice for the scene.
The image makes me smile and remember happy times. It connects on a human to human level. Thanks for the : ) |
