Born On The Bayou by CoryComment: Cute little devils,, and they have sharp teeth too. We used to play with them when I was a kid, but you have to watch out for the "momma gator".
Congrats on one of the finest gator photos I have seen anywhere, and kudus on the Red! Message edited by author 2012-08-17 02:29:15. |

Crystalline Feathers at Lake's Edgeby hahn23Comment: The bit of rock in the top corner sort of anchors this one to reality, instead of it just being a total abstract of the ice. It's an interesting look at the natural world in action.
We very rarely see any kind of ice like this where I live, and then it's only where there is very shallow water in manmade things like bird baths. |

Sentry at Sunsetby ciaeagleComment: This is a grand composition including the colors in the sky being orange on one side, blue on the other. That makes it different from most sunset shots.
There are some technical flaws that caused it to get dinked in voting, but the scene and the composition are superb.
Hope you get your monitor problem solved

As peaceful as a lambby CrazyDiamondComment: If the numbers are correct, the high iso and the very small aperture may have contributed much toward the softness of this one, which was mentioned by both you and one commenter. Light coming through a tiny aperture becomes diffused as the aperture begins working somewhat like a pinhole lens as it becomes smaller and smaller. It's just physics. The best sharpness is between f5.6 and f11 for most lenses.
I also see the disruption of the diagonal shadow across the subject. With sleeping animals though, you can't just rearrange things without losing the subject.
You have a very good looking friend here, and I can see in your portfolio that he means a lot to you. |

as cold as steel by tangueraComment: Yay! Got to love it when a photo like this can ribbon in a challenge without having to think long and hard about shooting it for the challenge. You're just good! Congrats! |

The heart is a bloomby jomariComment: Marvelous delicate texture makes this sweet to see. The flashlight lens thing is great for this. No 1' s 2's or 3's on this one either. That's as it should be.
I also like U2. |

Which Way Joséby lynnesiteComment: What a wonderful shot! Is that a Pitts Special?
My son Robert took his check flight in an RV4 to get his private. They are pretty sporty little aircraft. |

Tanya Truckby ttroutman71Comment: This is excellent for an "out of the camera" shot. The dark truck stands out against the light grass and the BG. The great detail in the grass is very nice in this too. |

SolFilterSetup_P6050002by GeneralEComment: This is my kind of bubbaneering! It's a setup that worked nicely too. I'm curious to know if you cut out the CD to the size of the aux lens? The blue bubble gum and pink paper clips, that's way cool. Color coordinated too LOL. |
