Self Portrait Editedby TCGuruComment: The high key treatment and smoothing of the healing brush took this shot up a level or two. It's an image that I just had to stop and take in for about a minute as I looked thru all the little details in it. It's a splendid SP. |

Retired croppedby kleskiComment: I like the way you made something out of nothing with the edit on this image. This one meets the spirit of this side challenge perfectly. |

IMG_2948OR-played-with.jpgby JerseyGenieComment: This is a superb vacation post card sort of shot. I like the finished image much better for color saturation, however, it seems just a little sharpish in the rocks area to me. Is "sharpish" a word, or did I just make that up? There are a lot of people around the tower.
Wish I could see this place in person. |

Day4-after.jpgby JakerComment: There is a sun ray, a shadow of a cloud, in the center of the frame at the top. It didn't show up clearly until you did the toning. Try reducing the amount of black empty space at the bottom in the finished shot, right up to near the horizon, and see if it makes a difference in the way this image comes across.
It's cool the way the trees in the far background give a big sense of scale to the shot.
This looks like a Central Florida pasture scene. |

Day 4: Heronby bobonacusComment: Fine detail in the feathers in this shot. The clump of iris in the back makes a good backdrop for the lighter bird, and adds a little dash of different color with the yellow.
The herons there look a lot like the ones here except for the dark patch on the shoulder. |

Poisedby JedusiComment: You had very good light for this shot, and the whole scene is as good as it can get. The light on the subject, with the BG all dark is just perfect.
They are not seen in the area where I live, at least, I don't remember ever seeing them here. They look a lot like a smaller version of a blue jay without the crown feathers. |

Back side of the Natural Bridge in BC - Canadaby PhotoDaveComment: Dave, This is a wonderful shot! The trees and the color of the water and a sense of motion is in the image. It just needs a can of fresh air and sound when you open the image from the thumbnail to make it complete. |

Wild Enough?by JuliBocComment: Julianne, you get some of the most interesting wild bird shots in all of DPC land. That's just too cute, with the little top knot of down feathers. |

"and Mom says..."by tnunComment: You almost got it. This is one of the situations where a DSLR has the flexibility to allow you to focus on the subject that you want, or to select the area of the image to focus on in the viewfinder. The camera focused on the little branch in the foreground in this shot.
Like you said, not the best photo, but it is a nice snapshot to share what's going on around your home.

spiderhopper_edit.jpgby yankoComment: That's an impressive edit. The DOF for a shot at this level is huge. You didn't post the aperture setting with the images. The reflections are "killer"!
