GroundHawkSC.jpgby fldaveComment: You were very fortunate to find this one on the ground, and that it didn't fly before you got some photos. This one looks darker on top than most of the hawks that I am used to seeing.
Good shot. Composition and focus is just right. I like the ferns in the BG. |

Morning Mistby JedusiComment: Lovely shot. The fog adds a fine gauge of depth to the scene. |

High & Dryby JedusiComment: I like the colors and the way the grass works with the boat hull in this. It looks like there is a windmill on the horizon. |

Pas-des-deux.jpgby jomariComment: This is quite a shot. Sharpness and all that sort of stuff is great. The composition, the poses, opposing directions facing center, each with one leg up, the double reflection make this a captivating shot to study. |

Blown Away by DrAchooComment: Good job Doc! I remember reading an interview with the photographer that shot the original poster shot where he told how it was done. I think that it was in Popular Photography mag about a year after the photo was first published.
Congrats on still another big "Blue" ribbon! |

Dove Trioby patio127Comment: Lovely shot. The reflected light from the snow below them lights up their whole puffy little bodies. They are one of the most pleasant of birds to have around. |

WotRUlookinat.jpgby jomariComment: Nice pose, and the frame of the reeds is nice too. That's an interesting story about the quarry. They have many quarries here. They dig the rock for roads ect, then when the hole is completed, they build homes around it and sell it as waterfront property.
I hope that all the workers got out safely when it flooded. |

Dopey Lookby phase3Comment: Pretty Hyacinth Macaw! These birds are so big and usually they are also very sweet and social. It's not easy to capture the true glow of their feathers, but you did a nice job of that with this shot. I like the X composition in this shot. |

Evening Greetingsby phase3Comment: This is a beautiful shot of this Cara Cara/ Mexican Buzzard, the bird on Mexican coins. We have these in the wild in S W Florida, but they are not easily approached for photos. After 3 years, I am still trying to get a good clear shot of one up close at eye level instead of up into the sky from 60 ft.
They are nice to see when they are flying. They look almost like small eagles. |
