Tight Linesby TimComment: Great action shot, but I can't help but wonder if it wouldn't have looked better & met the challenge more head-on if it had been shot dutch. Maybe lower ISO & even higher shutter (plus opening the aperture a bit, of course) could have boosted the crispness, too? I'm pretty much a newbie here, though, so take my comments with a grain of salt - just 'cause I'm being critical doesn't mean I think MY stuff is doing any better! You likely will do better than my submission... Good luck! |

Centennial Parkby MichaelCComment: Although this has the beginnings of something interesting, the perspective seems uninspired and the framing/cropping is unbalanced. The highlights are tipped a little to far into overexposure which isn't bad in and of itself except when it doesn't contribute to the image - I often like to bloom things a little but only when it will improve the mood. I'm pretty much a newbie here, though, so take my comments with a grain of salt - just 'cause I'm being critical doesn't mean I think MY stuff is doing any better! You likely will do better than my submission... Good luck! |

Ancient Cosmologyby DudskiComment: Brilliant effect - but seems pointless & wasted on the globe. Effect for effects sake but entirely unmotivated; no story here for me. I'm pretty much a newbie here, though, so take my comments with a grain of salt - just 'cause I'm being critical doesn't mean I think MY stuff is doing any better! Good luck! |

Spanish Dancerby JeffryZComment: Perspective/angle does not compel me much & the subject doesn't evoke much on her own. Focus seems a little soft, too. This may have had more impact as a b/w. I'm pretty much a newbie here, though, so take my comments with a grain of salt - just 'cause I'm being critical doesn't mean I think MY stuff is doing any better! Good luck! |

Reflectionby bobgaitherComment: Image is a tad busy - my eye is a little confused by the lack of distinction between the elements - might just be my personal taste. Our feathered friend is almost smack dab in the center, too, which makes it seem more like a snapshot than a real deliberate & thoughtfully composed work. I'm pretty much a newbie here, though, so take my comments with a grain of salt - just 'cause I'm being critical doesn't mean I think MY stuff is doing any better! Good luck! |

Christmas Tree Lighting and Fireworksby riversongComment: 'Diagonal' connection a bit of a leap; head in lower right provides more distraction than interest. Most everyone has seen a real 'wow' firework so this moment seems a little tame & thus doesn't evoke a lot of emotion. I'm pretty much a newbie here, though, so take my comments with a grain of salt - just 'cause I'm being critical doesn't mean I think MY stuff is doing any better! Good luck! |

After the Stormby darktigerComment: Seems lacking in subject interest - just nothing dynamic happening here for me. I'm pretty much a newbie here, though, so take my comments with a grain of salt - just 'cause I'm being critical doesn't mean I think MY stuff is doing any better! Good luck! |

Being Shadowedby jrwybleComment: Not enough subject to focus on for a study & yet too much subject to be abstract. Focus seems soft, too. Perhaps the shadows on the floor would have made a better subject? I'm pretty much a newbie here, though, so take my comments with a grain of salt - just 'cause I'm being critical doesn't mean I think MY stuff is doing any better! Good luck! |

I think I smell fish over there...by wetlandComment: Decent tie, but focus seems a little soft & colors/contrast a bit muted. How to Construct a Polyformby freakin_hilariousComment: This ties in well with the challenge, but I'm missing the 'wow' factor. Perhaps slightly deeper DOF (I sorta feel the spine should be in focus as well) & creative lighting would have brought more to the party. I'm pretty much a newbie here, though, so take my comments with a grain of salt - just 'cause I'm being critical doesn't mean I think MY stuff is doing any better! Good luck! |
