Hard Weather Compromiseby raishComment: This is such an unusual photograph that I decided to return to it to vote rather than voting on first viewing. Capturing the throng of mallards in this way is something that would never have ocurred to me, but it really does work; there is such a sense of movement, almost frenzy. It might have been worth cloning out (assuming it would be legal in adv ed rules)the two pieces of grain on the back of the central duck. |

Flamingoby rkligmanComment: I have never seen a flamingo close too - I did see some in a zoo when I was a child, but in an enclosure and so at some distance. From a European perspective it seems so bizarre to be able to come across a bird as exoctic as this.
This is a wonderful portrait, with incredible detail revealed in the plumage and in the beak, as well as wonderfully rich and vibrant colours. |

Jonathan?by hajekaComment: As a photograph in it's own right, and as a sea-scape, I really like this; as an example of the genre of 'wildlife photography', less so. |

Immersive Beingby craigesterComment: Coming across sights such as this, I can understand why divers find underwater photography so satisfying. This fish is so strange looking, yet there is something almost human looking about the face! It is a shame the top lighting is a little harsh. |

Mystic Mooseby ShutterPugComment: Must be wonderful coming across a creature such as this whilst walking in the woods - i got excited enough at seeing squirrels, birds and a rabbit! The photo is dark, but is worth the viewer taking time to look closely. |

Pelican coming in for a landing...by RitaDComment: The triangular shape fits the frame perfectly. I have seen quite a few pelican shots here on DPC - are they a relatively common bird in the States? I can't imagine coming across one in the wild! |

MAJESTIC by AlexSaberiComment: Majestic this stag certainly is! The exposure and focussing couldn't be faulted - the detail in the texture of the coat and antlers is very good, and I love the light on the antlers. My quibble is with the composition - I presume that there is something that would spoil the shot if it included the stag's legs, but the composition as it is does spoil the overall effect. The other compositional issue, and one that you would have had more control over, is that the tip of the right antler has been cut-off. Despite that, a strong contender. |

Sly Fox Versus Sly Photographer! by IvoryComment: Is this in the wild? If it is, it is the most amazing piece of wildlife photography! If not, I will be a little disappointed, but it is still a fine photograph, and one that I have thoroughly enjoyed viewing. |
